How To Grow And Care For Strawflowers, An Everlasting Beauty
A truly gorgeous single-colored strawflower in a striking band of tones, which range from strawberry rose to full peach, all with golden undertones that contribute to a luminous glow. As its name suggests, its blooms are straw-like: crisp, papery, and sturdy. These are not botanical petals but are bracts, special leaves that draw in pollinators and stay colorful for years if stored somewhere dry (hence the flower's alias, Everlasting).

Originating in Australia, Strawflowers still grow there in the wild. The dried flowers retain lovely shades of yellow, red, orange, pink, and white, which can readily be used in dried flower arrangements. The original strawflower comes from Australia, where it still grows wild as a native species. The first botanical records of the strawflower date back to 1803, with the publication of a work called Jardin de Malmaison.
