Breaking Regulations is science fiction disguised as dark fantasy. Most of the book takes place in the outer section of a cylindrical generation ship that is mainly croplands and walled towns. The main character is Marcus, a mercenary swordsman. The design has a dark and mysterious atmosphere, not only to match the story, but also to better catch the attention and curiosity of the potential buyers/readers. Not showing too much of the interior of the ship, also allows everyone to imagine it in its own way, when they read the descriptions on the book..
This design was a layout proposal and was never published. “Inferno” is the beginning of a multi-part dramatic science fiction series, that takes the readers on a journey through space and time. The story is set in the year 2033, when humanity considers itself the crown of creation. It’s only then that Earth reveals its innermost, bringing the island of Capri to a terrible inferno… which changes the world forever. The author requested the representation of one of the main scenes, when an immense white energy beam comes from the deeps of the Earth in the direction of a distant planet. Having this scenery in mind, I decided to place the two planets in a position that would allow the energy beam to cross the main title. Apart from achieving a very symmetrical balance in the entire design, this was also meant to give a very curious detail, where the beam seems to pass right through the vertical line of the letter “P”..
“Meer der Stille”, translated from German as “Sea of Silence”, is a Sci-Fi Thriller set in 2048. An international crew embarks on a flight to Mars, when they’re awaken by the emergency protocol. The chaos and destruction reign on board, making impossible to complete the mission to their final destination or even to return to Earth. The journey into nothingness begins. Apart from requiring a spaceship with a specific shape, damaged and with visible signs that would represent the unfortunate events, the client also wanted to convey the impression that the ship was drifting and completely lost in space. Therefore, I decided to place it in a certain way (in the diagonal) in order to give a sense of instability, to better represent its critical situation while is being destroyed and outside of its route. The effects that I gave to the title also reinforce that destruction, where the metal appears scratched and burned. This design was a layout proposal and was never published..
This design was a layout proposal and was never published. It was created for a cautionary tale about what America is becoming. This science fiction book is a sort of metaphor for what is happening in our society, bringing the excitement and intrigue of paranormal and spiritual discovery, together with a supernatural battle between spiritual forces in an age of advanced technology and cultural shifting. As it is set in San Francisco, the client required a clear skyline of the buildings of the city, from which a giant violet construction stands out, not only by its size but also by the different appearance and materials. The major challenge was precisely to represent that giant building in a way that could show its different nature, following the descriptions on the book — “some kind of magnetic force field, not glass or steel”..
This is the first book of a Sci-fi book series by author Chuck Black..
This design was created for a science fiction novel, set about a dozen years in the future. The diagonal form of the buildings gives a great depth to the cover, also helped by the running man and the strong light at the end of the street. This contrast between zones of light and shadow was made to create impact and transmit a sense of mystery. Since the story has to do with the malicious, mesmerizing effect of a presence on social media, the author wanted to include some kind of electronic device (mobile, tablet or computer). However, I also added some details as a watermark, like the circular grid with the zero and one numerals, in order to have a certain technological atmosphere. Another of the requests was to create the design with a blue/gray palette with gold highlights, since this is a color combination that can attract the public of this book genre..

She is forced to team up with a male superhuman who can move matter with his mind and runs a private detective agency. The book revolves around her investigating the disappearance of her superintelligent sister, a superhuman cult driving the downfall of old humans, and corporate greed from biotech corps that abuse desperate superhumans to take advantage of their powers and their biology. .

Book cover for Laura Leigh Clarke's latest Science Fiction book series. It was a tough competition. I had a hard time looking for a decent stock photo of an amazing spaceship. My design instead, became the cover of her 2nd book in the series titled The Dark Side of Gaia..

Book cover for a Dark Fantasy / Sci-Fi novel.

This design was the first win for Adrenaline Design. It was a true collaboration with the client which, ultimately resulted in a dynamic design which both parties were immensely happy. The difficulty with this design was to show the brightness of the sun without it being overwhelming. .
contest: The Orion War - Book 1.
The second winning design for Adrenaline Design. This concept attempted to balance the double-tree imagery (mandated by the brief), a take on the infinite possibility of the the human spirit, with the rise of technology. .
A book about loneliness in a near future setting..
- The author wanted to show a spaceship being controlled by someone's mind. The woman has cables and plugs running into her neck. The blue energy running between her and the ship shows this, plus the ship being a different colour to the rest of the squadron emphasises its uniqueness. - I made the spaceships from model kit bits and paint canisters. I photographed them and edited the shots in Krita. - The space background is a composite of several free stock images. - I made extensive use of Krita digital painting to composite imagery, and to create the nebula/clouds and laser effects. .
The whole notion of this cover was to evoke mystery, suspense and things falling apart. This is mainly due to the subject matter of the book involves the protagonist's world shattering after a realization. .
I wanted to merge the ideas of a time machine schematic, government classified material, and foreboding sense of what may come. .

This design attempted to reflect the minimalism of space and create an interesting title cover..
The main reasoning behind this design was to create a cinematic feel. This attempted to create a different spin on the vortex the brief mandated.
I wanted to use pinks, purples and blues to evoke the feeling of romance. The light bleeds hint at the stasis in which the central character endures. The face of the protagonist also adds a sense of foreboding..
This audio-book cover was designed to show how human beings and technology is on the verge of collision. This is book two, the brief was for book one and required concepts for later installments. .

Short synopsis: It’s 2026. After years of preparation and against all odds, the world witnesses the launch of a privately funded expedition on a six-year roundtrip journey to Saturn’s moon Enceladus. A crew of five heading to the edge of the solar system to potentially answer the deepest, longest standing questions of our species: where did we come from? and, are we alone in the universe? The client asked for cover image to be realistic and awe-inspiring. The book is firmly in the hard Sci-Fi category, but should appeal to anybody looking for the ultimate adventure story. This was the book cover I absolutely enjoyed working on..
